Aggregation Sites

  • Proggit – http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/ – 20% or so of the articles are pertinent and interesting, 50% are about functional programming stuff and over my head
  • DZone – http://www.dzone.com/links/index.html – Programming links, some bias to web programming
  • Codebetter – http://codebetter.com/ – A .NET blogging network
  • Devlicio.us – http://devlicious.com/Default.aspx – Somehow different from codebetter, not sure how

Forums

  • CodeProject – http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/List.aspx – More stuff here than you can imagine, these guys know a TON about open source
  • Asp.NET forums = http://forums.asp.net/ – sometimes interesting, mostly kinda sucks
  • Alt.NET mailing list – http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/altdotnet/ – maybe over your head, (my too) for now, but this is all the guys that write the books

Funny

  • The Daily WTF – http://thedailywtf.com/Default.aspx

Blogs

  • Jeff Atwood – http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/ – Well researched, well written, fairly accessible if a little obnoxious articles. Start with this
  • Steve Yegge – http://steve-yegge.blogspot.com/ – Some of the most interesting and well written articles out there, they’re really really long long.  Probably my favorite though.
  • Joel Splonsky – http://www.joelonsoftware.com/ – Probably the oldest programming blog, fairly language agnostic
  • Scott Guthrie – http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/ – One of the architects of .NET, aggregates a lot of tools
  • James Shore – http://jamesshore.com/Blog/ – A lot of stuff about how to develop and design software (he’s an agile process coach)
  • Justice Grey – http://graysmatter.codivation.com/ – Pretty funny informative articles, mostly about web stuff
  • K Scott Allen – http://odetocode.com/blogs/scott/default.aspx – .NETy stuff, actually I’m not sure
  • Paul Grahm – http://www.paulgraham.com/articles.html – All about how to do your start-up, some of the most cited articles in the programming blogs
  • Steven Bohlen – http://www.unhandled-exceptions.com/blog – Author of the Summer Of NHibernate series
  • Gojko Adzic – http://gojko.net/ – A really talented developer who does video presentations about the alt.net tools
